Whether you have a built-in wardrobe (which doesn't fit your clothes) or wardrobes and cupboards from Ikea, Home Center or Marina, the clothes, accessories and shoes can easily absorb odours. The odours may be from your perfumes or oud, smoke and shisha or other outside aromas. If you are living in older apartments or villas, your wardrobes may have a stale or musty smell in it. Many times this smell is due to poor ventilation and air conditioning.I often have followers or clients asking about the best way to keep their wardrobe, shoe closets and cupboards fresh and odour free. Here are some of my top tips to help you keep your wardrobe fresh and odour free.

1.  Get a waxy perfumed tablet (see item 1.). I bought this waxy tablet from Santa Maria Novella Profumo which is based in Florence, Italy. I had never bought this type of item for my wardrobe, but after one year, the first tablet  is still going strong and gives a beautiful aroma to my wardrobe and clothes.  My scent was called Relax (you can see more details here).

2. Use Dryer Sheets to place in corners of your closets to freshen up the container air. These ones from Victoria Secret are subtle and easy to fold to put in the corners of your closet.

3. Use Potpourri Sachets in your shoe cupboardPotpourri satchets are sold everywhere but finding a good scent is difficult. My favourite are from Zara Home. I have placed a couple of them in my shoe cupboard to remove the stale smell from the shoes.

4. Air Your Shoes for 15 MinutesBefore you put the shoes back in the cupboard or wardrobe, air them out for 15 minutes. Also Scholl have a great spray which neutralizes foot odours. Spray the shoes and then put them in the cupboard. Also you can cut place a dryer sheet inside each shoe to keep them fresh whilst stored.

5. Place pieces of chalk in your ClosetThe chalk will absorb odours that may accumulate especially in musty or stale cupboards and wardrobes.I have also found Daiso and the White Company sell some great items that smell nice to help keep your wardrobe fresh and odour free.
