Organising your Wardrobe

A guide to organising your wardrobe

A guide to organising your wardrobe [Infographic] by the team at Apartment GeeksThis infogram provides an inspired list of do's to organise your wardrobe. The guidelines on organising by item and colour is a good idea and something I try and do in my wardrobe. I divide as follows for the hanging clothes:Bottom  rowa. Suitsb. Trousersc. Outdoor activity clothes such as snowboard gear

Top row

a. Short dresses

b. Skirts

c. Shirts

d. Special tops

I have dedicated a separate space to hang long items just as maxi dresses and abayas. Abayas of course are one colour so the blingest ones are grouped together and the plan ones are grouped at one of end of the space for easy access (for when you need to throw one on and go to the supermarket).I have found that due to the reduction in clothes in my wardrobe, that there is space to fit the winter clothes in one section away from the main items.  Storing in a suitcase is a good idea as it will protect items such as cashmere from those pesky moths.  Clear boxes and bags which you can buy from Daiso and Muji, can be used as well to protect your winter clothes.

The suggestion on using clear shoe boxes is a great idea but only if you have space to store these boxes. If you have 5 pairs of shoes this could be a great investment and will protect your shoes, but if you are like me the reality of owning only 5 shoes will never happen. I bought Trollsta cabinet from Ikea to store all my shoes. The drawers contain my flip flops and ballet shoes. The main area contains all those high heels needed for work and play.

I have not found customizable wire drawers in the UAE, but if you have please let me know where you bought them. There draw dividers in Ikea which are useful for your Ikea storage cupboards. For socks and hoisery, i purchased Lidan door store units (AED 69) and hung them in my wardrobe (next to the snowboard gear). I have used one Lidan unit for socks and one for tights (I have no idea why I have so many tights living in the UAE).

The last part of the infogram provides information on what clothes you need. This suggestion may work in the Northern Hemisphere but I don't believe we need that many coats living in the UAE. I have one coat stored here for when I travel and 2 stored back in the UK of various lengths for when I visit. Let me know your thoughts on what is sufficient for your wardrobe needs.
