How to Move Home Without the Stress
Moving house every few years is a right of passage in the United Arab Emirates and especially right now in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Every day you can see moving companies and their trucks on the main roads taking items from one place to another.
If you are due to move soon you will most probably have to deal with the following issues
a. Obtaining permits from your apartment and villa community to move out of your current location and into your new location.
b. Have you lease stamped by Ejari.
c. Connect your water, electricity and internet line.
d. Find good, reasonable priced movers to help you relocate.
e. Declutter items so you are taking less into the new home.
f. Sell/donate unwanted furniture.
g. Obtain time off from your office to spend the day dealing with the move.
h. Book cleaners and decorators to provide their services in both buildings.
If you are alone, it can be very difficult to complete all of these steps efficiently and quickly. I recently assisted a client to move from one apartment to the other. She was unable to get time off to complete the apartment formalities and assist on move day. Also due to the Eid Holidays, she had an even tighter timeline to complete the massive task.
The organising and processing of the property paperwork and booking of third parties was completed by myself on behalf of the client. On move day the client left the apartment in the morning and the movers packed the apartment and moved items to the new one. Once in the new apartment, whilst the movers assembled the furniture, I emptied the boxes and organised the flat. Furtniture was arranged based on Feng Shui principles to ensure good flow within her home as well. When the client returned from the office, she had a new apartment to settle into.It is difficult to move especially when you have a job, family or other demands to deal with on a day to day basis.
