The 4-2-2 Decluttering Challenge

If you've missed the back to back coverage, adverts and tweets - it's World Cup 2014 in Brazil. I am excited as it is the only time of the year when I follow football (or make that 2 years - I follow the Euros as well) and especially follow my favourite two teams. :).In celebration of the start of the World Cup, the APOD UK team have come up with a great decluttering challenge for the World Cup weeks called The 4-2-2 Challenge. The challenge is:Every day between now and World Cup Final on July 13 you must:1.  Throw out at least 4 useless items - hunt down all your broken stuff, old papers and publications, out of date food, and bin it.2.  Give away at least 4 unwanted items - put aside to give to friend, charity shop or other good cause – you don’t have to donate the items every day. (As Ramadan is coming soon there will be various charities collecting for various causes which I will be updating you on in the coming weeks).3.  Complete 2 decluttering tasks – each can be ‘quick wins’ as small as tidying a single drawer, box or shelf or something regular that will reinforce a good habit, for example washing up and putting dishes away after every meal , or leaving  your desktop clear and tidy at the end of every working day

Keep it up throughout the tournament and the winner will be the person in your team who’s done the most – make sure there’s a ref you can trust to keep score and order though! Football fans may be motivated by the chance to be top of the clutter-busting league table, while the 4-4-2 Challenge provides a practical diversion for non-fans from the TV diet of round-the-clock sport. And of course the game can be a solo effort if you wish.

Then on World Cup Final Sunday, whatever the football result and whoever wins your challenge, you will be able to celebrate getting shot of a whole lot of clutter. And THAT’s an achievement really worth cheering about!

If you need a ref, let me know and I will be happy to help :).

Good luck and keep me updated with your challenge.
