A Glitter-Friendly Checklist for Crafters

Tame the glitter and organise your craft supplies with this practical checklist. Keep your space tidy, creative and sparkle-friendly.

If you’re a crafter who loves a bit of sparkle, you’ll know that glitter is both magical and maddening. One minute it’s adding charm to your creations, the next it’s covering every surface (including your cat). But with a bit of planning and a solid system, you can enjoy your glitter guilt-free and mess-free.

Here’s your glitter-friendly checklist to keep your creative space under control, even when things get sparkly.

Choose Contained Storage

Loose glitter is best stored in small, clear jars or snap-lid containers. If your glitter came in a flimsy packet, decant it immediately. Stackable spice jars or bead organisers work brilliantly for keeping colours separate and visible.

Use Trays for Application

Always work over a tray when applying glitter. It contains the spill, and any excess can be funnelled back into the container. Bonus: it protects your table from sticky disasters.

Keep a ‘Glitter Only’ Cloth or Mat

Designate a washable cloth or silicone mat purely for glitter use. This reduces transfer to other projects and makes cleanup a breeze. Just shake it out or rinse it after use.

Store Glitter by Type or Colour

If you use different types- fine glitter, chunky glitter, glitter glue - store them separately. You can also organise by colour if you tend to grab specific shades often. Labelling containers will save you from second-guessing.

Contain Tools Too

Brushes, glue sticks, and other tools used with glitter should be cleaned and stored together. Having a small container marked “Glitter Tools” keeps everything easy to find and keeps stray glitter away from non-sparkly projects.

Keep Cleanup Supplies Nearby

Have sticky tape, lint rollers, and a handheld vacuum close by. A quick tidy after each session will keep your space from turning into a glitter storm.

Revisit and Refresh

Every month or two, take five minutes to check for leaks, spills or half-empty containers. Tidy, top up, and toss as needed.

Glitter should bring you joy not chaos. With this checklist, you can enjoy all the sparkle with none of the stress.
