Tip of the Day - Decluttr your Living Room

Do you want to come home to rest in a decluttered, peaceful, calm living room? Here are my 14 top tips to start the declutter process today.

1. Have the following items to hand for the decluttering process - donation box, "wrong room box", recycle bag and trash bag.

2. Put old magazines in the recycle bag. You will never take out the articles and create that scrap book if you haven't done it in all these years/months.

3. Put those books you don't like or never read in the donation box. See my article on decluttering your books for more tips. Do the same procedure for DVDs and music.

4. Put all those items not meant for this room such as medicine, nail clippers, clothes, etc into the "wrong room box".

5. Throw away broken toys, remotes and knick knacks.

6. Create a designated area for all your remotes or buy this remote holder from ikea (Flort - AED 12)

7. Put all toys in designated storage boxes or baskets.

8. In the entertainment area, unwind and restore the cords.

9. Collect all the blankets and throws and put them in a designated place such as a cute basket.

10. Clear your coffee table. Leave the cool coffee table books but get of the junk on the table. If you do need some of things to hand, use a basket like I do. I got a similar one to this from Zara home.

11. Take the items in the "wrong room box" and store them in the right location.

12. Throw your recycle items in the designated bins and throw your trash away.

13. Finish off with a spritz of furniture spray to make your room dust free.

14. Relax.
