Decluttr Session - Kitchen and Pantry
This week I had a great declutter session reorganising and kitchen and pantry for a client. The main issue was that there was a lot of stuff stored in various places throughout the two rooms in no logical manner. Electronics were in various places, spices in three cupboards, tea packets and cereal packets in various cupboards and tea sets not together but in various drawers and cupboards. The kitchen and pantry looked like this:First, the pantry was tackled removing most of the items from the shelves and then reorganising into sections. The pots and pans are set on one shelf, not stacked, for easy access by the cook. The baking items and roasting tins are stored in Samla boxes (5l size). All electronic gadgets which are not used regularly, are stored in the bottom shelf. The everyday electronics are stored in a kitchen cupboard. Formal big serving dishes and a dinner set are now stored altogether in the corner. Ramkins are contained in a Samla box (5l) - due to their size and number, it is safer to store them in a box.Serving dishes for nuts, chocolates and hors d' oeuvres are now placed together. Due to their various sizes and designs it was difficult to store them in a logical manner or in a box.All the bulk food items are now stored in blue boxes (which were already used by the client).
Small boxes of freezer bags etc are now stored in Dokument Magazine holders (from Ikea AED19 for two). There were various glass vases on top of the shelves which were to be recycled with the florist. The pickles in big jars were considered old and would be removed to obtain a fresh batch. By removing these two items there will be more space available to move items including the formal gold bowls from their present location. For now the tea towels are stored in a smaller Samla by the pickles.Next the kitchen:All breakfast items had been in various cupboards; they have now moved to one cupboard. The various tea cans given as presents are now stored in a Samla box in the pantry; with the tea and coffee used on a daily basis stored in their own cupboard.Spices are now stored next to the cooker. The everyday spices were already stored in small jars. These jars are now located in baskets with handles (purchased in Daiso). Bigger amounts of spices are stored in labelled jars.Food items are now grouped and stored in separate cupboards:Tea cups, tea sets, glasses and mugs were stored in various cupboards with no logical storage. Now they are stored depending on the item and usage. The children's plates, etc were stored in a Samla box as they were not used often now. Extra plates for the family were also stored in this cupboard. The white dinner set has been reunited to be a whole set again and provided a cupboard to itself. After all the rearranging, throwing away old food and donating items such as old serving dishes, there are now empty cupboards to be used (one day).We are here to help you declutter and organise your home and office if you need help in starting the decluttering process. If you're kitchen (or any other room) needs to be decluttered and reorganised, contact us and we can help you start your new year Decluttered.
